Terrain - Well treed, good balance of shade and  sunshine. Well laid out on dirt and pine needles. The park is located along the historic paddling route of the Voyageurs. Located a little too close to the highway so it can be a bit noisy from traffic on some sites. The park is too close to the highway and you can hear very loud transports and traffic both day and night. It is a good park for a one night stop over as you are passing through the area, but for the average tenting camper, you may want to continue on a little further to Lake Superior Provincial Park.

Staff - I did not personally have much dealings with them, but had no complaints about them.

Bathrooms - 3 comfort stations (flush toilets/ running water) , No pop vending machines outside the comfort stations.
                  - Out houses which  have sinks and tap for washing but no flush toilets. Outhouses had no trash cans in the stalls.

Beach - 3.5 km long but has a lot of tough marsh grasses along it. It is one of the great lakes so the water is cold but, it is fairly shallow and so, by Lake Superior standards, reasonably warm in comparison to other areas where the water is deeper.  The water is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom in most spots.

Out Door Water Faucets - Signs indicate places where there should be one but it doesn't actually exist.

Hiking Trails - Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout Trail (7 km round trip - about 45 min, 11 km round trip, or 14 km round trip)
                     - Pancake Bay Nature Trail (educational signs posted around this trail)

Pet Amenities -  If you walk beyond the edge of Park [along the beach], there is a place where dogs can swim..
                       -  Dog beach located just to the east of the Hilltop campground, near the beach parking lot.
                       - pet exercise area

Playground - jungle gym

Park Store - souvenirs, firewood (no ice)

Boat/Canoe  Rentals:  None
